We traveled as a group as we have in the past but our experience at Hidden Bay by the Sea was by far the best our group had experienced. The Villa is lovely.
The beds are all extremely comfortable the rooms are cool and cozy all our time was spent on the porches, in the pool or hot tub or down by the sea on our own private patio. The pool is small but plenty big enough to cool off or hang around in. There are places around the property for couples to get away by themselves and for larger groups the cottage is spectacular, private cozy and right on the cliff with the hot tub 10 feet from the porch!
However the most valuable part of this property is without a doubt it’s staff. Our housekeepers and grounds keeper were wonderful both inside and outside were meticulous but the most amazing thing about this villa is chef David and the butler Richie. We have been to many islands and many villas but never have we had a Chef and Butler this amazing. We gave them full reign to make whatever local cuisine they would like. One of our group has food allergies and is gluten-free and chef David made her feel special and taken care of and stress-free about her food which was amazing. We all got so excited every meal waiting to see the latest masterpiece and the friendly smile’s from our staff and our favorite part was chef David’s explanation of what we were about to eat the entire experience was perfect.
My husband was celebrating his 50th birthday I had no expectation I let them know we will be dressing for dinner one evening and would like to take pictures with the staff for his birthday. They set up a beautiful table outside on the lawn we had lobster which was fantastic and prepared to perfection and we would know as we are from Boston and know our lobster! Our dinner ended with a one of a kind birthday cake under the stars it was truly magical. We did not know until the last night that our butler Richie actually made all the desserts during our stay he is truly a talented kind wonderful man.
If you are looking for a comfortable Villa and your priority is food and service I don’t believe there is a better choice on the island than Hidden Bay by the Sea every other villa owner on the island should be trying to recruit the staff I would follow them anywhere!

The extraordinary location of this unique cliffside home is absolutely stunning. Planted firmly on a rock ledge high above the sea, the precipice may be daunting to some. While a low stone wall wraps most of the waterfront paths, we advise parents in advance they should plan to monitor adventurous youngsters along the walkways.
Hidden Bay captures both the drama of an extraordinarily elevated panorama of the blue sea and the proximity of its own sandy beach. Its well-planned design attracts groups of up to 12 adults and especially two- and three-generation families. The architect listened when these homeowners ordered a full range of the comforts of a family-style home, equal accommodations for all guests, and capture of the outrageous beauty of their unique location. The interior designer added an uncluttered, immaculate style of unpretentious glamour – in short, an ideal vacation home. For those who want privacy during all this togetherness, ten individual outdoor sitting areas dot the seafront wall. A thatched-roof outdoor bar is yet another informal sitting area with tables for drinks and games.
The main house consists of 4 bedrooms and 4 1/2 bathrooms - approximately 4000 sq. ft
A comfy wrap-around verandah with glorious view is the favorite gathering area. Step off the porch onto a grassy lawn, freshwater pool and terrace, and Travertine stepping stones to the pièce de résistance – an open sitting area on a dramatic promontory over the sea with sweeping views from horizon to sunrise to sunset. Sunset vigils with butler-served trays of drinks and hors d’oeuvres create indelible memories of each day’s long, breathtaking dusk. Cameras are mandatory.
From this promontory, a stairway leads down to a private over-the-water stone deck supported on eons-old coral rock, an enviable spot with chaises for sunning and a jumping-off point into the bay.
Or, across the lawn, walk down a Harry-Potter-style rock-clad stairway that looks like it could open to a cave, and voilà! The hidden beach is a 100’ stretch of sand by the sea for barefoot shell gathering, for splashing in shallow waters, and for taller guests to venture into the waves. Kayaks and vests are complimentary.
All 4 bedrooms feature quiet air conditioning, ceiling fans, iPod docks, closet safes, and en-suite bathrooms and are equal in size.
King-size 4-poster bed, en-suite bathroom with large walk-in shower. This largest bedroom features a unique covered porch with rocking chairs and 7 louvered windows that can be closed to block light or open to a wonderful sea view.
Optional king-size or twin beds, balcony, en-suite bathroom with tub-shower combination, and wonderful sea view.
King-size 4-poster bed, balcony, en-suite bathroom with walk-in shower, view of beach and sea.
Accessible Bedroom and Bathroom. Opens to the verandah on the same level. King-size bed, tub-shower combination + seamless access to the outdoor shower.
The cottage consists of 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms + full kitchen, verandah, view, and Jacuzzi - approximately 1500 sq. ft. Both bedrooms feature quiet air conditioning, ceiling fans, iPod docks, closet safes, and en-suite bathrooms and are equal in size.
A picturesque walk along a paved path overlooking the sea leads to the absolutely charming cottage. Here is a complete accommodation with a well-furnished living room and verandah, full kitchen, 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, the outdoor sitting area over the sea, and private open-air Jacuzzi.
King-size 4-poster bed, en-suite bathroom with walk-in shower, opens to the living room, furnished verandah, sea view, and Jacuzzi.

The NEIGHBORHOOD on RUNAWAY BAY
This home, pools, and gardens sit solidly on a horizontal expanse of coral rock. The privacy of Hidden Bay belies its location in the heart of the historic little town of Runaway Bay. In fact, one may miss the villa’s entrance gate and impressive wall that spans 450’ feet along the road just feet from the sea. But do not miss the opportunity to stroll through this local Jamaican village, unspoiled by super-clubs or mega-hotels. Immediately across the street is the irresistible Best Little Pattie Shop in Jamaica. The supermarket and hardware store are in the village center. The friendly townspeople will welcome you warmly.
Groceries can be ordered, delivered, and paid for via a credit card from the local grocery store. Alternatively, guests can shop at the local grocery store near the villa using their credit card or cash.

We traveled as a group as we have in the past but our experience at Hidden Bay by the Sea was by far the best our group had experienced. The Villa is lovely.
The villa; this place is amazing, it was everything we expected and so much more. The architecture was what I would imagine a turn of the century island plantation to be. The wood and décor is amazing. The property itself is beautiful, well-manicured lawns, plenty of seating that exploited the most amazing views, sunrise to sunset. During the day everything was opened up to take advantage of the constant cool trade winds, during the evening meal the staff would close up the bedrooms and lower the AC, after the evening swim in the pool and a nightcap, we would head off to our very cool rooms, perfect if we got too much sun. The little touches are very nice, beds turned down and a chocolate candy on your pillow.
The staff, was incredible. Our Valet / Concierge Ritchie was the most wonderful person, incredibly attentive to our needs. Ritchie left us wanting for nothing, a true professional and a real gentleman. Our Chef, Chef Chad was fantastic. Chef Chad never disappointed, each meal was very well thought out, professionally prepared and presented. When we met with the chef on our first full day to plan out the weeks meals, we requested he treat us to Jamaican cuisine, he did not disappoint. The rest of the staff were amazing and attentive, always nearby to assist us in any way but never intrusive. Sometimes it felt like they read our mind, as soon as we would think of a need someone was right there to address it. Hats off to you all, and my heartfelt thank you.
This may sound silly but one of the things my family talks about was the pre meal ritual of Ritchie announcing that are meal was ready and he presented us with ice cold / almond extract towels. Very refreshing and a special touch.
Beach access was great, there are several points to enter the water, depending on what you wanted to do. To hang out on the beach and splash around we used one access point. When we wanted to snorkel we used another that put us closer to the reef.
Reading the reviews before our trip two things where called out. Mosquitoes, I can honestly say I was never bothered one time by an insect. We packed repellent because of the review but never had to use it. The other concern pointed out was the road noise. Yes, this hidden gem does sit right off the main road that circles the island and yes there is road noise but nothing unbearable and never so noisy to interrupt sleep or quite conversation.
A very special thanks again to the Hidden Bay staff, to sum up the interaction with the staff, the day of our arrival we were formal, handshakes and introductions, with our departure it was warm hugs sincere goodbyes and well wishes. They even called us Jamericans LOL.
My family is already asking, when we are heading back.
Hidden Bay is just as beautiful as the photos. We felt like we were living in a magazine photo shoot. It completely opens to the outdoors and feels like a very luxurious traditional Caribbean house. The house, grounds and gardens are meticulously kept, and the separate cottage is ideal for groups of friends or family. We saw almost no one on the beach and there's a great little swimming spot close to the villa. Further out the reef is in great condition for snorkeling. If you like nightlife or TVs in every room then this isn't the house for you: it's designed for enjoying the outdoors and the people you're traveling with. There are lots of separate areas to sit and the villa is very child friendly despite the low garden walls. There are no restaurants nearby, but the fantastic staff at this villa absolutely spoiled us all and we only went out on day trips, which was just fine as we felt no need to leave. The food was so good we only ate lunch out once (and everyone is now on a diet)! We booked massages with Caroline and highly, highly recommend it.
This is a really special villa built on spectacular cliff top overlooking the sea and a quiet beach.
Wonderful trip. Everything went very, very smoothly and everyone had a ball. The staff at the house was awesome. We are booked to come back next year!.
This brand new villa is nestled right on the top of a beautiful cove. The architecture by Ann Hodges, is perfect, a real beach style house.
The clear sea below is amazing for snorkeling and on a calm day, Ricardo will take chairs down to the sandy slip, so you can sit with your toes in the water. On the other side of the villa is a sandy beach, great for an energetic swim. I love the way this house has been slotted in amongst the rocks. Clever stairs and a wooden gate take you through the rocks to the beach.
I stayed in the Master bedroom two weeks ago and left my windows open, listening to the sounds of the sea. The beds are all like sleeping on pillows of air. The staff are super. The Home owner has a young and energetic team.
Everything from their special welcome cocktail (quite a punch!) to the incredible food served by Chef Lyn or Chef Kim. Cocktails are served on the Corfu style sitting area out by the sea with your favorite drink. Parmesan crusted bammy sticks with a chorizo tapenade. Mmmm perfect.
Nicky Farquharson, Villas by Linda Smith Concierge
On behalf of Ken and Me and our guests, David and Rena – Thank you for a terrific time of rest, relaxation and rejuvenation! This time was ‘just what the Dr ordered” in so many ways.
Hidden Bay is a marvelous location to leave the troubles of the world behind and enjoy the beauty of the sea and hospitality of the Jamaica. One never needs to leave the property with so many little areas to sit, relax, read, sunbath, swim, snorkel and just enjoy unwinding. The accommodates were lovely, from crisp white linens on the beds, private bathrooms for each bedroom and plenty of venues to enjoy delicious meals prepared by chef Chris.
The property is filled with lush tropical vegetation and the view of the ocean is glorious. We can’t wait to return to Hidden Bay in the not to distance future. What a plus that spa can come to you as we indulged two different days for an open-air massage. Fabulous!!
Each staff member deserves kiddos for there kindness, diligence and spirit of hospitality.
Reid: You were constantly working behind the scenes however your deeds did not go un-noticed. Everything was always in order and tidy. We appreciate your grilling skills on Jamaica night, the bonfire and balloon / kite launches and especially all the decorations for Ken and I to renew our wedding vows and have a special venue on the lawn. Oh, and you are one mean domino’s player. Thanks for teaching us!
Garson: Just your infection smile makes everyone at ease and feel welcome. Your happy spirit is infectious, your cocktails spot on and you always know when to magically show up with your sense of “they must need/want something’. Your domino pointers helped me win and I am grateful for that!
Courtney: You are tremendous! You looked after all sort of details, from stocking of bar supplies to special requests and sharing so much knowledge about the island with us. We cannot wait to return to be able to explore the island when this COVID crisis has ended. It was great talking about music with you and I challenge you to more dominos in the future.
Monica: While you are a lady of few words, you speak volumes with your busy hands and warm smile. We loved returning to our rooms in the evening to find the laundry wrapped and tied up with fresh flora like a special gift. You were always anticipating our needs. Thank you for that.
Claudia: You are an amazing inn keeper – not one detail slips past you. You run a warm, friendly and efficient ship and will no doubt be a hotelier one day. Thanks for starting the whole dominos adventure…. we are hooked.
Chef Chris: What can I say….. You rocked it , every day, every meal, every snack. We loved the variety of foots and your careful preparations and presentations set before us time after time. Thank you for tolerating my frequent visits to your kitchen door and for allowing us in the kitchen to whip up a snack together for the staff. That was truly a blessing. We cannot wait to come back and visit your table.
Hidden Bay was amazing. I mean, seriously, everything was fabulous. We will be booking that villa again. It was hands down the best we have ever had or could imagine topping. Once we figure out dates for 2021, I will let you know.
I cannot put into words how wonderful the Jamaica trip was. Thank you for every detail you helped with. I will never forget the unforgettable or the precious people we met there. The staff are amazing!!!! The property is so far beyond what the pictures can show!
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping us all the way!
We had a terrific experience. The property and the staff were all excellent, and we had an incredible time.
Patrick ran things extremely well and made sure the daily schedules were coordinated. He also helped with recommendations for excursions and meals. He was so easy to work with and made us feel taken care of.
Nick was great to connect with too. He was a great bartender and expert with local suggestions. He was on top of our needs throughout the day, and everyone really liked him.
Reid was always there when we needed him. He helped with kayaks and snorkel gear, and one night he built us a terrific bonfire. We were grateful to have him.
Tamara and Monica were always cheerful and seemingly kept the house spotless. We all loved the clean and folded laundry each day and the turndown service each night. They made us feel pampered.
And Alex? He was probably the highlight of our vacation. Every meal was terrific and well thought out, and he catered to any special requests. The lobsters, the snapper, the goat stew, the shrimp gumbo, and the pork chops were all special dishes. And breakfast each day was a favorite. He even did a pasta class for our daughters, which they loved.
The house layout was terrific and the rooms were extremely comfortable. The grounds were also beautiful. Every day was worth a photo.
This was a wonderful vacation for our adult family members. The property had so many places where we could gather in small groups for conversations or to play cards. The infinity pool was small but the views from it were lovely. - Will and Ellen A.
We had a fabulous time at the villa and the staff was top-notch.
